Weber Paper Building Reuse (Platinum Building) — 1996

Weber Paper Company is a 65-year-old Dubuque based business that moved from its original downtown location in 1996 to the new Dubuque Industrial Park West to facilitate continued growth. In order to accommodate this move, Dubuque Initiatives traded the land in the industrial park in exchange for Weber’s downtown location. This became the first downtown project undertaken by Dubuque Initiatives and launched the beginning of a new focus for Dubuque Initiatives: downtown revitalization. Dubuque Initiatives stabilized and held the building until Wayne Briggs, president and CEO of Platinum Supplemental Insurance, invested in and restored the five-story building. Now fully-restored building is owned and occupied by Platinum Supplemental Insurance.
