Weber Paper Building Reuse (Platinum Building) — 1996

Weber Paper Company is a 70-year-old Dubuque-based business that moved from its original downtown location in 1996 to the new Dubuque Industrial Park West to facilitate continued growth. To accommodate this move, Dubuque Initiatives traded land in the industrial park in exchange for Weber’s downtown location. Dubuque Initiatives stabilized and held the building until Wayne Briggs, president and CEO of Platinum Supplemental Insurance, invested in and fully restored the five-story building, now owned and occupied by Platinum Supplemental Insurance. The Platinum Building project marked the beginning of a new focus for Dubuque Initiatives: downtown revitalization.
